Thomas Evans leverages his engineering expertise and his entrepreneurial experience to guide SMDD Capital’s deal pipeline, sourcing, evaluating, and structuring high-value opportunities across defense, hospitality real estate, and novel technologies. His personal angel portfolio—from AI crowd-analytics software to carbon-to-fuel conversion—mirrors this data-driven, clean-energy focus.

Earlier in his career while working as a medic, Tom invented a wireless ECG sensor that earned FDA Breakthrough Device designation and was licensed to a Tier-1 automotive supplier. He later led international critical-care initiatives as a consultant, performing field assessments, coordinating evacuations, and deploying capital to maximize life-saving impact in austere settings. Today, he sits on the boards of several humanitarian NGOs.

Tom holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University and, away from the office, devotes his energy to beekeeping, lake surfing, and the occasional hard-fought tennis match.

Will Waldorf is a senior at the University of Michigan, where he is pursuing a degree in Psychology and Entrepreneurship. In 2022, he was honored with the University of Northwood Business Student of the Year Award.  Will has a diverse background that includes experience in retail sales and the food industry, reflecting his strong work ethic and versatile skill set. At SMDD Capital, he supports the investment team through early-stage outreach and due diligence.
